Malak Foundation Officially Launches Anti-Racism Initiative

A Community-Led Platform Addressing Intercommunity Racism in Australia

On Tuesday afternoon, 24 February 2026, the Malak Foundation proudly hosted the official launch of its Anti-Racism Project — a community-driven initiative designed to spark meaningful and constructive conversations about intercommunity racism within African and Black communities in Australia.

Held in a spirit of openness and civic responsibility, the event brought together stakeholders, project partners, community leaders, government representatives, and project participants who contributed their voices and lived experiences to the initiative. The afternoon was marked by courage, reflection, and a shared commitment to strengthening social cohesion.

Supported by the Victorian Government

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Victorian Government for its commitment to social cohesion and inclusive community engagement. Through its grant program and institutional support, it demonstrates that dialogue — when structured and responsibly facilitated — is not a luxury. It is essential civic infrastructure.

This project reflects a shared understanding that strengthening communities requires proactive investment in education, accountability, and constructive conversation.

Distinguished Guests and Civic Leadership

We were honoured by the presence of:

  • Hon Dr Daniel Mulino MP, Assistant Treasurer and Minister for Financial Services

  • Mr Ahmed ABDELATIF, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of Sudan

  • Cr Mohamed Semra, Mayor of the Maribyrnong

  • Cr Samantha Meredith, Deputy Mayor of the Maribyrnong

  • Councillors, representatives of government departments, community organisations, and project partners

Their attendance demonstrated strong institutional and civic support for open dialogue, accountability, and proactive community leadership.

Shining a Light on the “Grey Area”

Public discourse often — rightly — calls out racism directed at communities of colour. However, far less attention is given to racism that occurs within communities themselves.

This project focuses on that overlooked “grey area”: where harmful stereotypes, internalised prejudice, and discriminatory attitudes can sometimes be dismissed as jokes, ignored, or left unchallenged.

The Anti-Racism Project seeks to:

  • Encourage honest and respectful conversations

  • Promote education and awareness around intercommunity bias

  • Provide structured pathways for reporting incidents

  • Offer access to support mechanisms for those affected

Racism, regardless of its source, must be addressed consistently and constructively.

Professional Video Production by Creativa

A highlight of the afternoon was the official screening of the project’s video series, produced in collaboration with Creativa.

To our creative and production partners at Creativa — who worked tirelessly behind the scenes from content development to filming, editing, and design — your professionalism and dedication transformed an idea into something tangible and powerful.

To our video participants — your willingness to engage in complex and sometimes uncomfortable conversations is what gives Inclusive Voices its credibility. Your openness and courage ensure that this platform is not symbolic, but substantive.

The audience response during the screening reaffirmed the importance of creating safe spaces for these conversations.

Digital Platform Developed by MantisAI

Complementing the video series is the launch of the project’s dedicated online platform:
https://www.inclusivevoice.org/

The website provides:

  • A secure and confidential reporting channel

  • Educational resources on racism and cultural awareness

  • Clear pathways for community members seeking support

  • Moderation safeguards and compliance-aligned backend systems

Built with strong technical architecture and responsible AI-informed safeguards, the platform ensures both accessibility and integrity.

To our website development team at MantisAI, led by Dr Mohamed Nasir — an expert in Artificial Intelligence and language models — thank you for bringing this platform website to life.

Your technical leadership has ensured that the front-end experience is simple, accessible, and community-focused, while the backend systems remain robust, secure, and intelligently engineered. The depth of architecture, thoughtful model integration, and compliance safeguards protect users and support responsible engagement across the platform.

Celebrating Culture Through Cuisine

The event was further enriched by the food served on the day, prepared by Evette Quoibia, Melbourne-based chef and owner of Jollof Vibe.

In early 2024, Evette set a Guinness World Record for the longest individual cooking marathon:

  • 140 hours, 11 minutes, and 11 seconds

  • Six consecutive days of continuous cooking

  • Showcasing Liberian and West African cuisine to the Melbourne community

  • Surpassing the previous record of over 119 hours

Her achievement was not merely about endurance — it was about culture, pride, and community. We were honoured to have her contribution at this launch event. Sharing food is one of the most powerful ways to build bridges and foster dialogue.

A Collective Commitment

To our Partners, Stakeholders, and Institutional supporters — thank you for believing that this initiative matters. Your endorsement gave this project credibility and momentum.

Malak Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to this milestone event. The Anti-Racism Project invites community members, organisations, and leaders to engage with the platform, share the resources, and continue the dialogue.

Anti-racism begins not only in public discourse, but within our own communities.

Together, we move forward with responsibility, integrity, and unity.
